  • Ted Kennedy est né le 22 février 1932, à Boston, Massachusetts. Il est le plus jeune des neuf enfants de Joseph Patrick Kennedy et de Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy. Il est le frère cadet de John et Robert Kennedy.

    Ted Kennedy est élu au Sénat des États-Unis en 1962 au siège laissé vacant par son frère John, élu Président des États-Unis en novembre 1960. Ted a été constamment réélu sénateur du Massachusetts au Congrès américain aux élections de 1964-2006. En 2005, il est devenu le plus ancien sénateur en fonction après Robert Byrd.

    Ted Kennedy est ou a été membre de plusieurs commissions démocrates dont celles sur la santé, l'éducation, le travail et les pensions, la commission judiciaire, la commission des forces armées...

    Il a donné en 2008 son soutien à Barack Obama contre Hillary Clinton et John Edwards pour les primaires du parti démocrate, en vue de l'élection présidentielle américaine de 2008.

    Een moedig en krachtdadig politicus.Hij was een echte sociaal liberaal.Zijn inzet voor een rechtvaardige wereld was zeer moedig.Democratie wereldwijd was zijn betrachting.Weer een grote kennedy die ons verlaten heeft.

    I want to express my condolensces to the Kennedy family. Edward M. Kennedy will be missed by you all, his relatives, but also by many many people all over the world.
    How unfortunate it is that world will never know how it would be right now if the USA had had 3 Kennedy presidents. I am convinced that the world would have looked a lot better than it does now.

    But right now together with the Kennedy family, I feel a lot of pain for the loss of a fantastic man, a wonderful politician, one of the greatest Americans.

    Mr. Kennedy, thanks a lot for every effort you did to make the USA a better country and to make the world a better place to live in. 5 years ago, I was able to pay my respects to both your brothers gravesites at Arlington. I hope one day I can pay my respects to you in the same way.
